Topic Finder results are too broad or empty
How to phrase a keyword so Topic Finder finds questions your buyers actually ask.
Troubleshooting 1 min readUpdated 2026-10-20
Topic Finder works best with a keyword that names a product, a problem or a buyer. A single broad word, such as marketing or software, gives questions that are too general to write about.
Make the keyword specific
| Too broad | Better |
|---|---|
| compressed air | compressed air quality for pharmaceutical plants |
| AI writing | fact-checking AI-written blog posts |
| CRM | CRM for small manufacturing companies |
Add one of these to a broad word:
- Who it is for: for dental clinics, for small manufacturers
- What problem: cost, compliance, how to choose
- Where: a country or region, when rules or prices differ
Pick the right ICP
Select the ICP closest to the reader. Topic Finder aims its questions at that buyer. See Create an Ideal Customer Profile.
